Ten Things You Didn’t Know About Me: Jose Luis Crespo

Executive Vice President of Global Sales, Jose Luis Crespo joined Plug Power in 2014 as Vice President of Business Development and International Sales. He was promoted to Vice President of Global Sales in January of 2015 and assumed his current role in 2020.  Mr. Crespo is responsible for global sales strategy, sales growth and market entry for all of Plug Power’s product lines. Here are Jose Luis’ “10 things you didn’t know about me.”

  1. I was born in Spain where I lived until I was 23. I have both American and Spanish citizenships.

  1. I have lived in New York City for 12 years. Before NYC, I lived in Miami, FL and in Dallas, TX.
  1. I love dogs. I don’t have one now because it is difficult in New York City, but my last dog was an Airedale terrier named Dallas, because I got him while living in his namesake city.

  1. I now live in a neighborhood called DUMBO, which stands for “Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass”.

  1. I have run the NYC marathon three times.
  1. I don’t like cucumbers. I always wondered why and recently discovered that it is genetic.

  1. When I was a teenager, I was part of a swimming team. My summer job was teaching kids how to swim.

  1. My father was a motorbike and racecar driver and he won the Spanish 125cc bike championship.

  1. My favorite summer vacation is an Island in the Mediterranean called Ibiza.

  1. When I was 17 a friend of mine hosted a summer exchange student from the United States in my hometown (Talavera de La Reina) for a few weeks. We hung out together the entire time she was there. She later became an Oscar winner actress: Gwyneth Paltrow.
