Powering Safety and Workforce Readiness: Plug Recognizes National Forklift Safety Day

June 11, 2025

At Plug, safety isn’t just a one-day conversation — it’s a daily commitment to the people who keep our operations moving. On National Forklift Safety Day, we took a moment to recognize the essential role forklift operators and facility teams play in ensuring safe, smooth, and efficient operations across warehouses and manufacturing facilities nationwide.

As a leading provider of GenDrive fuel cell solutions, Plug is proud to help power the equipment that drives these vital operations. But we know true safety goes beyond machines — it’s about people, preparation, and a workplace built for everyone to succeed.

Building a Safer Workforce — Together

This summer, Plug is hosting two dedicated workshops in Rochester in collaboration with Rochester Works and Access-VR, focused on supporting employees with disabilities in industrial settings. These sessions are equipping floor supervisors and facility leadership with practical tools to foster more responsive workplaces — from implementing visual cues to adapting training methods that support comprehension and confidence.

Earlier this month, our Rochester team hosted students and faculty from the National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID) Battery Technician Bootcamp for a facility tour led by Plug’s Paul Christianson. The event was held in partnership with NTID’s Center for Workforce Development, which focuses on building technical career pathways for deaf and hard-of-hearing students. With ASL interpreters supporting the entire visit, students had the opportunity to see our operations up close and explore careers in advanced manufacturing and hydrogen technology. Later this month, Plug community ambassadors will return to share their career journeys and continue the conversation with these promising young professionals.

Safety Starts with Access

From advanced fuel cell systems to enhanced training and accessibility, Plug is redefining what it means to power safe operations. By investing in workforce education, inclusive pathways, and facility readiness, we’re not only meeting today’s safety standards — we’re building the workforce of the future.

To all the forklift operators, facility staff, and advocates working to keep our people safe: thank you. We’re proud to power your success — today and every day.
