One of the major barriers to mass market introduction of fuel cell technology is the cost.
Cost reduction, in turn, requires ongoing research to improve the lifespan and unit costs of various components.
For this reason, Plug Power is actively engaged with government agencies to increase funding for research and
development, including urging the creation of a dedicated national laboratory and advocating state-sponsored research.
Plug Power currently works with the Department of Energy, Department of Defense, the National Institute of Standards and Technology,
The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, the Texas Railroad Commission and many others.
