Every year, Plug Power employees organize a series of benefit barbecues to create awareness and raise money for various causes. During the barbecues, friendly competitions and events serve as the fundraising mechanisms. Last year nearly $10,000 was raised for charities.
Not only do the barbecues raise money for the chosen charities, they provide a setting for Plug Power employees to interact outside of the normal workplace environment. All benefit barbecues are entirely employee nominated and planned. The June 21st BBQ, which included the first ever Plug Idol contest, raised $2,400 for the American Cancer Society! The next Benefit BBQ, which will be held August 9th, will be raising money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northeastern NY.
