Plug Power’s tenure with the research, development, commercialization of Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cells extends back to our inception in 1997. As true architects of modern fuel cell technology, our products have addressed a range of markets, including:
-
Automotive:
Working in conjunction with Honda R&D Co., Ltd, Plug Power developed the Home Energy Station to support gasoline- and emission-free transportation.
-
Back-up Power:
The GenCore fuel cell replaced battery technology at telecommunication sites, providing network carriers with reliable, on-site back-up power in the case of a power outage.
-
Remote Prime Power:
The low-temperature GenSys fuel cell addressed prime-power needs at telecommunications towers in remote areas of the world. Replacing diesel generators, GenSys reformed LPG to provide clean and constant power at a lower operating cost.
-
Residential Power:
The high-temperature GenSys fuel cell system operated parallel to the grid as a replacement for traditional furnaces and boilers in residential and light commercial applications.
-
Material Handling Power:
The GenDrive fuel cell system is a superior solution to lead-acid batteries in the North American electric lift truck market.
