Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

  • Can a GenDrive run in my current electric lift truck?

The Plug Power GenDrive suite is built to operate in all major OEM lift trucks. The units are built with comparable weight, dimensions and connections to make fleet conversion seamless.

  • What kinds of tax credits are available when I purchase a GenDrive unit?

The federal government currently offers a tax credit for the purchase of a material handling fuel cell system calculated at $3,000 per kW, up to 30% of the cost of the fuel cell. Fuel cells installed and commissioned in 2010, and otherwise eligible for the fuel cell tax credit, may also apply for the grant-in-lieu of credit program which offers this incentive as a rebate instead of a tax credit.

Plug Power and our industry partners are currently working with the United States Congress and Senate to enhance the fuel cell tax credit available for material handling applications. Plug Power also supports ongoing industry initiatives to extend the hydrogen infrastructure tax credit to material handling hydrogen infrastructure applications as well.

  • Who do I contact for sales and service support

Plug Power currently has five Regional Sales & Service Representatives located in the field to support your application and fleet.

  • How does hydrogen supply fit into my application?

Plug Power will act as an end user advocate in working with industrial gas suppliers in terms of design, planning, and installation of optimum hydrogen supply system.  The end customer and Industrial Gas Supplier will negotiate final supply agreement.

  • What GenDrive fuel cell units are commercially available?

Plug Power offers a full suite of products for class-1, -2 and -3 electric lift trucks.

All class-2 and -3 GenDrive fuel cell products are available with freezer operation capability. GenDrive fuel cells for class-1 stand up rider counterbalance trucks are also available for freezer operation.

  • What is the warranty and who will perform warranty labor?

Plug Power’s warranty is similar to lift truck warranty of 1 year unlimited operation hours on major components with the exception of the fuel cell stack, which is 2 years with no hour limit.  Warranty labor can be performed by local lift tuck OEM dealer or customer, provided technicians are trained by Plug Power.
