On Friday, December 4, Plug Power again walked away with the recognition of being one of the “Best Places to Work in the Capital Region”. The Albany Business Review showcased winners at the rock concert-styled event in four divisions: 10-24 employees, 25-49 employees, 50-149 employees, and 150+ employees – the division Plug Power was awarded in.
A selection of Plug Power employees from all facets of the company joined Andy Marsh to accept our award (word is, the chocolate cake was amazing!). But, an even more important, long-term aspect that makes Plug Power a best place to work is the culture embodied within the walls of our organization. This unique culture came out in the answers we gave to the questions that the Business Review posed to each winner. Here’s what we said about what it’s like to work at Plug Power:
Why does Plug Power rock? What sets the Plug Power culture apart? At Plug Power we all share the desire to innovate and drive to not only continue to meet our customers’ needs at every turn, but to exceed them. At Plug Power, we have an unyielding desire to build something that will change the way the world moves.
What are your greatest hits? (key accomplishments, big wins, etc.)
- Our GenDrive fuel cells are reliable. GenDrive units operate more hours in a year than a passenger vehicle will realize in a lifetime.
- Our GenDrive units are proven. Collectively, they have performed more than 107 million hours combined at customer locations globally.
- Our GenFuel installations are proven. Customers perform more than 4,500 refuelings daily from GenFuel dispensers – that’s close to 100 million to date.
- We are the market leader. More than 90 percent of all hydrogen refueling done today goes into a Plug Power fuel cell.
How would you describe your company in 30 seconds to someone you meet at a cocktail party? What made Plug Power a success is our promise to customers that we will help them make one of their most crucial business operations more efficient, more reliable, and more economical. Plug Power is squarely focused on productivity—and providing the power to move your business into the future.
Finish the thought. To work at Plug Power, you must: trust – yourself and your coworkers.
What album title — real or imagined — best describes Plug Power’s company culture? “Born to run the world”
Why do your longtime employees stick around? They want to be part of the company that figures out what’s next for hydrogen fuel cell technology. And, they want to be part of building a new industry around it. And, as done in the past, the Plug Power team will drive it to success.
Are you hiring? If so, how many positions are open, and what type? Plug Power is currently promoting a variety of manufacturing, engineering and field service positions at http://www.plugpower.com/about-us/careers/.
